Paddling

Paddling on  Frenchman's Bay, December 27!

There was very little ice at the end of December and this athlete was exercising his muscles up and down the bay.

I admired his enthusiasm from the safely of the shore.

Thanks to the last few cold days they are now skating on the bay. I'll wait for thicker ice before I wander out.

My enthusiasm for paddling in the winter diminishes with the water temperature. I admire his dedication. :-)

A beautiful moment to reflect on the water, he's having a wonderful life!

I think the safety of the shore, and not the cold water, is a great idea.

Woah, that would be really cold if he flipped into the water. I'm not that brave. Love the pic!

I imagine they are not a very good ice breaker.

Not the kind of water you want to be tipping over into!

Lovely but surely cold, right? :-)

I have a friend who is also a wonderful photographer, and she just posted a great picture of some Ottawans enjoying a Polar Dip to start the new year. It definitely rivals this one for inscrutable behaviour in the middle of winter.

I would be right next to you on the shore ... can't imagine risking a fall into that very cold water. In the first reflection , it almost looks like he went right through the bottom of his kayak into the water ... Brrrr, parish the thought :( Fun Pictures ...
